Tyler Bullock scored 15 points to lead the University of Denver men’s basketball team to a 76-68 victory over Arkansas State on Sunday.
Arkansas State (12-12, 7-5 Sun Belt Conference) shot a dismal 28 percent from the field in the first half, and the Pioneers (4-19, 3-10) took a 19-point lead, 32-13, on a 3-pointer by DaShawn Walker with 5:58 to go before halftime.
Arkansas State pulled to within 73-68 with 42 seconds left in the game after Adrian Banks sank a 3-pointer. Bullock made three free throws in the final seconds to hold off the Indians.
The teams were scheduled to play Dec. 21, but the game was rescheduled because of heavy snow.
Women
COLORADO STATE 61, AIR FORCE 49 at Fort Collins: Senior center Marilyn Moulton and freshman forward Juanise Cornell each posted double-doubles as the Rams (7-14, 2-7 Mountain West Conference) defeated the Falcons (4-16, 0-9).
Moulton scored a career-high 20 points and had 11 rebounds while Cornell added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
DENVER 88, NORTHERN COLORADO 59 at Greeley: Sophomore Nnenna Akotaobi scored a career-high 19 points as the Pioneers (13-9) had four players in double figures in a win over the Bears (5-18).
Junior Sara Benham added 17 points while junior Alisha Godette had 14 and senior Tyesha Lowery 12 points.
NEW MEXICO 50, WYOMING 43 at Albuquerque: The Cowgirls (15-6, 6-3 MWC) had their five-game winning streak broken.
