A 66-year-old fugitive sex offender was arrested in the Littleton Cemetery today suffering from a gunshot wound to the head after an apparent suicide attempt, police say.
Richard Frank Roy, 66, was being sought by authorities after he cut his ankle monitor off last month, said Sgt. Trent Cooper, Littleton police spokesman.
Roy was on parole staying at a Castle Rock motel at the time of his escape.
A cemetery worker called police about a man who had fallen on the ground after a gunshot wound, Cooper said. The man, who was speaking to police and rescue workers, was taken to a local hospital under the watch of a Colorado Department of Corrections officer, he said.
It is unclear why Roy went to the cemetery, Cooper said.
