Getting your player ready...

Unable to land Dan Kolb and eager to create more depth, the Rockies signed veteran reliever Matt Herges to a minor-league deal today.

Herges, 36, went 2-3 with a 4.31 ERA in 66 games for the Florida Marlins last season. He has experience in the National League West, having pitched nearly six seasons with the Dodgers and Giants.

The Rockies are looking for a setup man to complement LaTroy Hawkins, the primary bridge to closer Brian Fuentes. Herges joins a list of candidates, including Dave Veres, Danny Graves, Denny Bautista and Taylor Buchholz.
