Severe winter weather has closed Interstate-25 between Walsenburg and Trinidad, as well as I-70 eastbound into Kansas from Burlington.

Interstate-76 has been closed between Ovid and Julesburg because of a semi-truck that rolled over late this morning. Traffic is being detoured locally until the road can be cleaned, said CDOT workers.

Kyle Fredin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the freezing drizzle that greeted commuters this morning in the meto-Denver area should turn into snow sometime after noon and continue into the night. The western and southern suburbs can expect 1-3 inches of snow, with around an inch elsewhere.

Interstate-70 eastbound into Kansas has been closed at Burlington, at the request of the Kansas Department of Transportation because of severe winter conditions in Kansas. Colorado officials have agreed to stop all eastbound traffic from entering Kansas until further notice. Interstate-25 between Walsenburg and Trinidad is closed due to blowing snow and icy conditions. Chains are required on U.S. Hwy. 6 over Loveland Pass.

Temperatures are very cold, in the teens this morning. They could easily drop below zero tonight, and rise into the teens again on Wednesday. The weekend is expected to be warmer.
