Belmar always had promise. Now it’s building a personality. A few years in, the giant commercial and residential development with the great architecture in Lakewood is looking less sterile and starting to feel like the urban space it was designed to be. Smart independent shops like Composition and A++ are adding local flavor to the retail scene. The food is getting tastier, the art is getting artsy-er. Getting around: Belmar is just south of Sixth Avenue in Lakewood, at the southeast corner of South Wadsworth Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue.
