Vancouver, British Columbia – Two players who figured to be key figures in a Avalanche push for a playoff spot missed Sunday’s game against the Northwest Division-leading Vancouver Canucks.
And it’s uncertain whether Wojtek Wolski (concussion) and Jordan Leopold (right wrist) will be available for Tuesday’s home game against Calgary.
Wolski, playing on the first line much of the season, was unable to perform following a concussion he suffered Saturday after a collision with Calgary’s Craig Conroy late in the third period. The Avs said Wolski did not have a serious injury.
The outlook might not be as good for Leopold, plagued all season with injuries. The defenseman has a brace on his right wrist, but the Avs wouldn’t give further specifics. Avs coach Joel Quenne- ville said Leopold will be re-evaluated today by team medical staff.
Leopold has played just 15 games this season because of a hernia and groin injuries.
No suspension
The NHL reviewed the incident but did not suspend Avs defenseman Ossi Vaananen for his major boarding penalty Saturday.
Vaananen injured Calgary’s David Moss with a face-first hit into the boards, drawing the major and a game-misconduct.
