Getting your player ready...

Crested Butte was the first ski resort in the country to offer up its famously steep terrain for a freeskiing competition. Now in their 16th year, the U.S. Extreme Freeskiing Championships are the all-comers event that has launched the careers of many of today’s most recognized big-mountain rippers. Beginning Wednesday, the huck-your-meat festival shines with kids and young adults doing things on skis that would make their parents cry. Back flips off a 40-footer? That’s just for the qualifiers. Carnage is assured, as well as the most brazen ski feats ever seen. Spectator viewing is a festive spectacle in and of itself, and thankfully does not require negotiating the Body Bag Chute to gain access.
