Stephen Colbert is now a tasty treat, thanks to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Colbert’s “Americone Dream” – billed as “the sweet taste of liberty in your mouth” – is vanilla ice cream packed with fudge- covered pieces of waffle cone and a caramel swirl. The Emmy-nominated Comedy Central host said in a statement, “Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda. What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case.” A portion of the proceeds will got to various charities.
Among celebrity hamburger flippers at McDonald’s, according to America Online: Shania Twain, Sharon Stone and Jay Leno. Singer Pink recalled her days at the Golden Arches: “I would open (the restaurant), because I’d be tripping on acid … and I would say, ‘Could I have bathroom duty?’ And I would sit in the bathroom and watch the tiles.”
Jenna Bush dined with two friends at SoHo’s Kitchen Club recently, the New York Daily News reported. Owner Marja Samsom said the first daughter was “sophisticated about food.” Apparently Bush was too sophisticated to rememebr her credit card; a Secret Service agent had to return to fetch it. Jenna also apparently missed the restaurant’s “Impeach Bush” sign.
The Academy Awards are Sunday, and that means Dani Janssen is preparing her ever-popular after party. The widow of actor David Janssen has entertained stars such as Barbra Streisand, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Goldie Hawn, Michael Caine and Whoopi Goldberg. Janssen told the New York Post’s Cindy Adams: “I did all my shopping last week, even for the decorations, and it’s enough stuff for 100. That’s how many I feed. And I mean feed. Right after the telecast it’s photos at the Governors Ball but food at my place. The year Clint won two Oscars he said, ‘I’m going right to Dani’s.” Favorites? “Whoopi loves my monkey bread and sweet potatoes.” She also serves smothered chicken, lemon cake and banana cake.
