Last season, defensive tackle Michael Myers said it was his intention to re-sign with the Broncos and finish his career in Denver. With the start of free agency approaching, Myers’ stance has not changed.

“Definitely, this is where I want to be,” he said.

Myers, 31, said there haven’t been any significant talks between the Broncos and his agent, but he expects the sides to have some contact this weekend at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Myers said he recently had a productive talk with new defensive line coach Bill Johnson.

There have been indications the Broncos will allow Myers to test the free-agent market when it begins March 2. The team might look at defensive tackles such as New Orleans’ Hollis Thomas or Chicago’s Ian Scott during free agency.

“We’ll see what happens,” Myers said. “But I like Denver.”

Myers made a career-high 57 tackles in 2006.
