“Femme, femme, femme” brings together 83 paintings from 45 French museums
In a collaboration between the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) and the French government, the exhibition “Femme, femme, femme: Paintings of Women in French Society From Daumier to Picasso from the Museums of France” begins March 4 at NOMA. The show features works from 45 museums such as the Louvre and the Musee D’Orsay from a variety of artists, including Renoir, Manet, Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec. The pieces celebrate the emergence of the modern woman and are grouped by five themes, ranging from domestic duties and intellectual pursuits to recreation and rural labor. “Japan100” Japan Society’s year-long celebration of the society’s centennial
Japan Society has launched an ambitious arts and culture program that will be echoed throughout North America and overseas, celebrating the society’s centennial. “Japan100: Celebrating a Century” kicked off at the beginning of February and continues in March with food (with “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto) and painting exhibitions. 2007 CMA Music Festival set for 36th year June 7-10; 70 hours of music
