Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to perform April 11 on “American Idol,” according to “Access Hollywood.” J.Lo joins a long list of big-name singers on the Fox reality series. Among those who have performed: Prince, Mary J. Blige, Rascal Flatts and Shakira. Gwen Stefani is slated to hit the “Idol” stage March 28.
Fantasia Barrino, the season 3 winner of “Idol,” will be joining the Broadway cast of Oprah Winfrey’s “The Color Purple” this spring, E Online reported. Barrino, 22, will play Celie, the role originated by Tony Award winner LaChanze and now played by Jeannette Bayardelle.
The Big Easy has not been so easy for Angelina Jolie. Since moving to New Orleans in January the actress and life partner to Brad Pitt has dropped to 109 pounds. Us Weekly reported emotional distress from last month’s death of Jolie’s mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, has led to the noticeable weight loss. A source told the magazine that Jolie, 31, is “very lonely and desperate to make new friends. Brad has been worried about her day and night.”
The latest rumored pregnant celebrity? Why, Christina Aguilera, of course. Aguilera and her husband, Jordan Bratman, went on a $3,000 shopping spree Saturday at the Beverly Hills children’s boutique Bellini. Aguilera reportedly boasted she was pregnant to a clerk, who said, “She kept saying they’d have to come back when they knew the sex of the baby.” Aguilera’s rep told the New York Daily News, “She said it is not true and she wasn’t in Bellini.” Check for yourself: Aguilera performs at the Pepsi Center Monday night.
We thought Heather Millsand Paul McCartney settled their differences. But a New York Post report says Mills may claim in divorce court the former Beatle is such a bad father that two of his children “contemplated suicide.” McCartney has four adult children with his late wife, Linda. British media reports claim none of McCartney’s children has shown suicidal tendencies. McCartney and Mills have a 3-year-old daughter, Beatrice. Meanwhile, Mills was unceremoniously dumped by animal-rights group PETA. Mary McCartney, Paul’s photographer daughter, threatened to stop working with PETA, the TV gossip show “Extra” reported. Mills heard the news from a friend. Mills also was dropped from PETA’s 2007 calendar when the divorce battle began.
Hugh Grant, free from his girlfriend of the past three years, will attend his former girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley’s wedding to Indian businessman Arun Nayar. Grant, 46, who has split with Jemima Khan, reportedly will tell some humorous anecdotes at Hurley’s nuptials next month, according to the Daily Mirror.
Courting trouble: Nicole Richie’s lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on Richie’s behalf Tuesday to a driving under-the-influence charge. Richie was arrested Dec. 11; she faces a pretrial conference April 2 … Daniel Baldwin pleaded not guilty to one count each of unlawfully taking a car and receiving stolen property. He could face up to three years in prison if convicted … Busta Rhymes rejected a prosecutor’s offer of six months in jail on two assault charges but is considering a judge’s deal that would let him plead guilty to misdemeanor assault and remain free. Rhymes, 34, is accused of beating his former driver over a back-pay dispute Dec. 26. Rhymes allegedly assaulted a fan Aug. 12 in the other incident.
Mischa Barton crashed Nicole Richie’s car on Sunday after dropping off the reality-TV star at a tanning salon, the Sun in London reported. Barton, 21, exchanged insurance details with the couple in the other car before speeding off.
