Several major highways have been shut down on the eastern plains as a blizzard caused several accidents including a chain-reaction collision involving 35 cars and trucks just east of Denver, officials say.
Three people were injured but no one was killed in the accident at about 8:15 a.m. just east of E-470 on Interstate-70, said Gilbert Mares, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
I-70 was closed from Tower Road in Denver to the Kansas border as the blizzard is causing white-out conditions and the highway is packed with ice, Mares said.
He said an RTD bus took 24 travelers involved in the accident to a Holiday Inn where troopers were interviewing them about the accident.
