For someone who travels the globe collecting fly-fishing memories and information, Andy Burk finds a surprising amount of time to create fly patterns.
The Californian has 19 patterns listed in the Umpqua Feather Merchants catalog, a feat, coupled with his overall expertise, that stamps him as being among the nation’s leading authorities with the long rod.
Burke will make a series of Front Range appearances, beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday with a free, three-hour session at Charlie’s Fly Box, 7513 Grandview Ave., Arvada, 303-403-8880. On Saturday, he will appear 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Fly Fishing Show at Angler’s Covey, 295 S. 21st St., 719-471-2984. A 9 a.m.-4 p.m. session at Blue Quill Angler, 1532 Bergen Parkway, Evergreen, costs $30 and includes lunch. Reservation is required, call 303-674-4700.
