Bomb squads are removing what appear to be homemade explosives from an Englewood apartment near Swedish Medical Center, officials say.
Robert Herrle, 45, of 3333 S. Grant St., was arrested by Lone Tree and Englewood police officers on a theft warrant at about 11 a.m. today, said Investigator John Hoehler, Englewood police spokesman.
When officers searched the home, they discovered several possible bombs and bomb-making components, as well as suspected ingredients for a methamphetamine laboratory, Hoehler said.
“They appear to be possible homemade explosive devices,” he said. “At this point we’re treating this as a very dangerous situation.”
The police department evacuated eight people who live in the Jennifer Jo Apartments and people in homes on the same street, Hoehler said.
