Nuggets assistant coach Mike Dunlap will listen to the University of Denver if the Pioneers want to discuss their opening as head coach of the men’s basketball team.

“I don’t know the particulars about that program, but obviously I would listen to anybody,” Dunlap said.

Asked if he will pursue an interview, Dunlap said, “Probably not, only because I don’t know anything about it. I would have to do some homework.”

Dunlap, who led Metro State to two NCAA Division II championships, has had preliminary discussions with University of Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn about the Buffaloes’ soon-to-be- vacant position.

DU’s opening became official Friday, when Terry Carroll was released after being on extended leave since Dec. 20. The Pioneers finished 4-25 in Carroll’s sixth season.

Requests to interview DU assistant athletic director Ron Grahame, who oversees the men’s program, were denied, and athletic director Peg Bradley-Doppes was not available.
