Berkeley Dietvorst, a senior at Denver’s East High School, has a 3.98 grade-point average and is ranked first in his class of 583.

The University of Colorado named Berkeley the outstanding junior at East High School last year.

He was selected to represent East High at the Metro Chemistry Competitions in 2005 and 2006 and will be on the school’s Federal Reserve Challenge team in the spring.

Advanced Placement classes he has taken include psychology, microeconomics and chemistry.

Berkeley is on the Denver University Junior Pioneers Midget Major AA ice-hockey team, where he is an assistant captain and goalie. He also plays for the Dakota Ridge High School varsity ice-hockey team.

This fall, Berkeley will attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he plans to study economics, finance and possibly applied mathematics.
