Damian Harrell of Colorado set an Arena Football League record for consecutive games with a touchdown, but Matt Sauk came off the bench and threw two TD passes to lead the Grand Rapids Rampage to a 44-42 victory over the Crush on Sunday.
John Dutton hooked up with Harrell on the Crush’s opening drive for 6-yard score. Harrell, the AFL’s offensive player of the year last season, has scored a TD in 66 straight games, breaking the record of 65 held by Eddie Brown.
Dutton would find Harrell again three minutes later on a 12-yard touchdown pass to give the Crush an early 14-0 lead. Dutton was 27-for-45 for 299 yards and six touchdown passes. Harrell finished with eight catches for 95 yards and three TDs.
Sauk replaced Chad Salisbury in the third quarter and helped Grand Rapids to 21 straight points. Sauk hit Jerome Riley on a 43-yard touchdown pass and Troy Edwards for a 3-yard score. Riley also returned an interception 20 yards for a TD to make it 41-28.
Dutton threw touchdown passes to Harrell and Brad Pyatt in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough for Colorado.
