What do Oscar winners really eat after the awards ceremony? If they arrived late at the Morton’s bash, the New York Post’s Liz Smith reported, the stars noshed on In-N-Out burgers. When best-actress winner Helen Mirren arrived, a server allegedly said: “Will that be fries with your burger, Your Royal Highness?”
Australian pals Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman stuffed their handbags with chocolates when they saw a tray on the Oscars red carpet. According to bangshowbiz.com, Kidman said: “Can we have some of these? We’re going to need them, it’s going to be a long night.” She was right; the show lasted nearly four hours.
Drew Carey has fallen off the celebrity map since his ABC comedy was canceled. But he dines – and tips – like a true star. Recently at Arnie Morton’s, Carey and a female companion had steaks and champagne. The tab was $250. Carey left a $400 gratuity, according to janetcharltonshollywood.com.
They gotta eat (or drink): (All spotted by the New York Daily News) Uma Thurman grabbed a tuna-wrap melt at the Energy Kitchen on East 57th Street last week … Bruce Willis spent a while at the nightclub Marquee last week, asking a security guard that “only hot girls” be allowed at his table. Willis, drinking only water, didn’t find a woman hot enough and left alone at 3:50 a.m. … “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee shared chicken pineapple fried rice and a peanut-butter banana tart at Ruby Foo’s recently.
Kanye West spent nearly $4,000 for a dinner from the Wales restaurant British Raj’s that would have cost the rapper about $17.50 per person. It’s the delivery charge – the meal was coming from Wales to New York – that’s the killer. The feast for West and seven guests consisted of onion bhajees, chapati breads, biryanis, pappadums, a specially prepared fish dish and vegetables. The meal was helicoptered from Wales to London’s Heathrow Airport on Tuesday. Then it was to hop a flight to New York, where the meal is to be served today.
