SEDALIA, Colo.-

Searchers found a body behind a boulder Monday believed to be that of a woman missing since last week.

Searchers were looking for Carolyn Gjendem, 52, of Castle Rock, since her disappearance Thursday. A volunteer searcher found a body near Rampart Range Road, about six miles from where Gjendem’s vehicle was parked.

“The difficult part was not finding any clues,” said Paul Miller, spokesman for Douglas County Search & Rescue of the area which is popular with snowmobilers. “There was nothing out of place, no tracks we could follow because of the snowmobile traffic.”

An autopsy was planned for later this week.

In a statement, Douglas County spokeswoman Cocha Heyden said deputies were conducting a death investigation but there did not appear to be anything to indicate foul play or suspicious circumstances.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, Heyden said.
