Brighton police have arrested eight people following a surge in graffiti.
Steven Aragon, 18, was charged with multiple counts of violating a municipal ordinance barring graffiti.
Seven juveniles, males ranging in age from 14 to 17, were cited and released. Police are not releasing their names because they are juveniles.
Brighton police said they still hope to charge between five and eight more people in the investigation.
The arrests, which took place over the past week, follow a recent upswing in graffiti in Brighton.
Since the start of the year, police logged 172 incidents of graffiti, with 140 of those incidents in February. In all of 2006, police received 160 complaints of graffiti.
