DID YOU KNOW?

In 1996, the state legislature voted to have a statue of former astronaut and U.S. Rep.-elect Jack Swigert represent Colorado in Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol.

Swigert died in December 1982, just a week before becoming a U.S. congressman from the newly created 6th Congressional District. Swigert, who grew up in Denver and attended the University of Colorado, served as command module pilot for the troubled Apollo 13 mission in 1970.
