Southwest Airlines said this morning that it is expanding service out of Denver International Airport as a result of its purchase of several new Boeing 737’s.
Beginning June 17, Southwest is adding service between between Denver and Oakland, Calif., with five daily non-stop flights. On Aug. 4, Southwest will add one additional daily nonstop flight between Denver and Houston Hobby, bringing it to a total of three daily.
“With at least 37 new Boeing 737’s joining our fleet this year, we anticipate seven to eight percent capacity growth in 2007,” said Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly in a statement.
The new flights are available for booking as of today.
Dallas-based Southwest is the third-largest carrier at Denver International Airport, behind United Airlines and Frontier Airlines.
