HOLDING COURT
Converse might be best known for its kicks, but basketball fans are scoring the company’s new Dwyane Wade apparel collection. Among the pieces unveiled at the recent NBA All-Star weekend in Las Vegas were the Miami Heat guard’s flocked T-shirt, $30; dazzle shorts, $45; and a microfleece hoodie, $85. And the new Wade 2.0 shoe, $100, is a combination of synthetic leather and nubuck and features a “Z” design for his son Zaire and a repeating W pattern. Find the collection at selected Finish Line, Foot Locker and Champs stores, as well as at converse.com.
GLOVED ONES
Just as baseball players need to keep the bat from slipping out of their hands, weight lifters and cyclists want a solid grip on the dumbbells or handlebars. That’s where gloves come in. Bionic gloves, from the makers of Louisville Slugger baseball bats and gloves, were designed by a hand surgeon and feature “relief” pads on the thumb, lower fingers and palm for cushioning, padding to absorb moisture, and Cool Max material for breathability. In men’s and women’s styles, they’re $40 at selected Sports Authority stores and at bionicgloves.com.
