Despite having the sniffles, Heather Hansford and Jen Rabe enjoyed the afternoon sun Sunday as they strutted through Civic Center with a camera and tripod.
Denver’s temperature reached 70 degrees downtown, making an ideal day for the pair of art students to shoot panoramas for an assignment.
“It’s much nicer to shoot in this than out in the snow and cold,” said Rabe, who was preparing to shoot city hall.
“It makes everything look nicer,” she said. “It’s much easier.”
Sunday’s temperature was above the average daytime high of 53 degrees for this time of year, said Mike Baker, a National Weather Service forecaster.
But it broke no records. The official high at Denver International Airport was 58. The record high for March 11 was 79 degrees in 1900, Baker said.
Denver’s forecast high for today is 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Serbice, with 71 for a high Tuesday.
During March and April, the weather changes daily, Baker said.
“Spring starts in the next week, and during this time of year, March or April, we see these very large swings from day to day and nighttime to nighttime.”
