Denver International Airport had its busiest January ever, with a total of 3.7 million travelers passing through the airport, an increase of 5.6 percent over the previous January.
“It’s nice to start another year off with strong passenger growth,” said Turner West, DIA’s manager of aviation. “It goes to show we have great airline partners, good competition and a strong market in the Rocky Mountain region.”
DIA finished 2006 as the fifth-busiest airport in the country and the 10th-busiest in the world for passenger traffic. A record 47.3 million passengers passed through DIA last year, up 9.1 percent over 2005.
Flight operations in January 2007 increased 5.2 percent from the same month in 2006. Cargo volume decreased 10.5 percent comparing those same time periods.
