The Colorado Tourism Office officially unveiled its $6.9 million new spring/summer marketing campaign, which centers around the theme “Let’s Talk Colorado.”
Created by MMG Worldwide, the Kansas City, Mo. agency hired by the CTO last fall, the campaign will target families, affluent travelers and couples.
Key markets include Boston, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix and San Diego.
The spending strategy will dedicate 32 percent to online media, 27 percent to broadcast, 26 percent to magazines and 7 percent to newspapers.
Last summer, the state legislature boosted the tourism office’s annual budget to $19 million this year, up from $5.5 million last year.
MMG has said that its goal is to expand Colorado’s tourism market to 30 million visitors by 2008. The state hosted a record 25.9 million overnight visitors in 2005.
