DENVER-
A 25-year-old sales associate for Molson Coors Brewing Company was named the new public address system voice of the Colorado Rockies.
Departing announcer Alan Roach revealed the new voice Friday as that of Reed Saunders, the current voice of the Colorado Eagles hockey team in Loveland.
Roach made the announcement on Denver’s 850-KOA radio. He’s stepping down from PA duties after 14 years to spend more time with his family.
Saunders was among a group of 20 finalists, pared down to three during a public audition event Monday in downtown Denver.
Fans were then encouraged to visit the Rockies’ Web site to vote for their favorite voice.
Saunders was born and raised in Denver, and graduated from Colorado State University.
His first official assignment will be Opening Day, April 2, when Colorado hosts Arizona.
