ROCHESTER, N.Y.-
Andrew Ramsey and Josh Frider each scored twice as Air Force defeated Army 6-1 Saturday night to win the Atlantic Hockey Association tournament and earn its first trip to the NCAA tournament.
The Falcons used four third-period goals to claim the AHA title.
The Black Knights finished the season 18-12-5. Their 15 conference wins during the regular season were the most in academy history, and this year was Army’s first-ever appearance in a conference tournament championship game.
Both teams were scoreless in the first period.
Air Force (19-15-5, 13-10-5 AHA) got on the board in the second. Mark Phillipich, with assists from Ramsey and Eric Ehn, scored on goalie Josh Kassel.
The Falcons extended the lead less than five minutes later with a power play goal from Ramsey.
Frider added two insurance goals in the third to push the difference to 4-0.

The Falcons responded with two more goals to finish the game. Josh Schaffer made the score 5-1, and then Ramsey added his second tally of the night for the final 6-1 score.
Andrew Volkening had 23 saves in the win, while Army goalie Josh Kassel finished the night with 21 saves.
