Drug task-force officers have been investigating an increase in heroin dealing and use in Boulder County, officials said Wednesday.
Some cases have involved fatal overdoses of heroin.
Earlier this week, a task force detective observed a car that police eventually pulled over for a traffic violation.
Officers searched the vehicle and found several balloons containing suspected narcotics hidden in the false bottom of an aerosol can, authorities said. The narcotics were tested and found to be two types of heroin.
Cocaine also was found. The total street value of the bust was estimated to be about $4,000, authorities said.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute controlled substances. His identity has not been determined because he provided false identification, authorities said.
