Veronika String Quartet

2:30 p.m., Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, 210 N. Santa Fe Ave., Pueblo. $15 at the door. 719-295-7200 or sdc-arts.org.

Pueblo’s best-kept secret may be the Russian-rooted Veronika String Quartet, in residence at Colorado State University-Pueblo since 1999. The group of four female performers has won top prizes all over the world, but members are loyal to the hometown crowd, offering regular performances as part of their Chamber Music with the Veronika String Quartet series. Today they play “The Russian Soul: Shostakovich,” including works of Shostakovich, Turina and Hayden.
