Everybody talks about the weather, but Marty Coniglio at KUSA-Channel 9 makes his living at it.
He’s happy to dispel a rumor I only recently came across but apparently has floated around the Internet for some time: That Denver is in line for a 6- to 10-foot snowstorm, probably before the end of the month.
“We’ve had people write and say, ‘Why are you not telling people about this? Do you not want to panic people?”‘
Remain calm. Coniglio blames the Farmers’ Almanac for launching the rumor that won’t die. He won’t promise that it won’t happen, but “we know that the Farmers’ Alamanac can’t tell you that. The almanac pretty much forecasts everything and eventually they get one right.”
He concedes it probably will snow again – 6 inches once fell in May – but the chance of a killer blizzard is “slowing to a trickle.”
Me! Me! Me!

Denver Radio Co., which operates KTNI 101.5-FM (“Martini”) and KSYY 107.1-FM (“Sassy”), is offering listeners a new service called MP- Me! It’s so simple I should have thought of it, but Tim Maranville and Mark Smith of Denver Radio already have.
“We’re not asking our listeners to navigate a website,” says Maranville. “We’re saying, if you want to participate, here’s what we offer. If you don’t want to take part, you don’t have to. It puts on your desktop Denver weather, news and real-time traffic.” And here’s the best part: It sends you an alert when your favorite tunes (which you load into the system) are coming up.
Maranville says MP-Me! is the only one like it in the country, as far as he knows. “This is brand new. We’re marketing it to other stations nationwide.”
The service, which appears without advertisements, is available free by signing up at martiniontherockies.com or sassy107.com.
