
Patrick Dempsey – a.k.a. Dr. McDreamy – appears to be trying to become Dr. McHunky. Dempsey has been spotted working out feverishly at the no-frills Easton gym on Beverly Boulevard, according to janetchalrtonshollywood.com. Working with a trainer, the “Grey’s Anatomy” star does cardio and lifts weights for two or three hours every afternoon. This is the same gym where Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire work out, and nobody bothers the stars.
René Syler, former “Early Show” co-anchor, explains in her new book, “Good-Enough Mother” and in an appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” about her “double whammy.” In December, Syler was dropped from the CBS morning program, coming just before she planned to undergo a bilateral prophylactic mastectomy on Jan. 9. Syler, 44, had her breasts removed – even though she didn’t have cancer. Syler had a precancerous condition called hyperplasia with atypia. Both her mother and father had had breast cancer, and her doctor said there was a 40 percent chance that she would be stricken. Syler’s story and part of her digital video diary will be shown on Thursday’s “Oprah.”
Nicole Richie was hospitalized for dehydration early this month because of hypoglycemia, her rep told People magazine. Hypoglycemia is abnormally low blood sugar. Richie, 25, announced in October she was seeking treatment for her inability to put on weight.
Joey Fatone told “Extra” he’s dropped around 20 pounds before his appearance on “Dancing With the Stars,” thanks to dancing preparation and the weight-loss program Nutrisystem. Fatone even laughed about a microphone malfunction during his first performance on the ABC reality series. The microphone pack came dislodged in the backside of his pants. “I was like, What is behind me?”
