DURANGO, Colo.-
An Ignacio man has died after being shot by his friend in what the victim’s mother said was a “freak accident.”
Kesmond Lee Morgan, 22, died early Thursday after being shot in the shoulder area by Alan Herrera Jr., said Morgan’s mother, Tracy Pena Morgan.
“What happened to him was really a freak accident,” she said.
The FBI and the Southern Ute Indian Police Department were investigating what happened, said La Plata County Coroner Carol Huser.
Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Candelaria expected to have more information by Monday.
