Getting your player ready...

Any adventure writer will tell you that being outdoors is a big part of the creative process. On April 14-15 at Silverton Mountain, Powder Magazine editor-in-chief Tom Bie will tell you a whole lot more.

Bie, a former editor at Skiing and Paddler magazines, is leading a two-day adventure writing workshop open to anyone interested in publishing their work in magazines, newspapers or on the Internet.

The course will guide writers through the publishing process, including how to pitch stories, what makes a great adventure story and how to market yourself professionally in the competitive adventure writing market. (Be warned: A precourse writing submission is requested for critique).

The course is designed as 50 percent classroom and 50 percent field to offer students time to ski or explore other outdoor pursuits around Silverton. College credit also is available through Western State College in Gunnison. The cost for the course is $189, not including lodging or skiing.
