Much more than aloha shirts and flip flops are being packed into suitcases as BJ Dyer and Guenther Vogt prepare to leave for Hawaii on Sunday.
The owners of Bouquets will be lugging laptops loaded with Power Point, and assorted tools of their trade, because their mission in Honolulu is to give a multimedia demonstration of their expertise at a Garden Club of America-sanctioned meeting of the Garden Clubs of Hawaii.
So how did the islanders discover the talented Denver duo?
The story begins last May when Dyer dazzled the 600- plus who were in Denver for the GCA’s 93rd national conference. Representatives from six GCA member clubs were so impressed that they invited him to their respective cities for an encore.
With Vogt, who handles the Power Point segments, Dyer has already demonstrated his cutting-edge (and award-winning) designs in Nashville. After Hawaii, they travel to Piedmont, Calif., and Easton, Md. In 2008, the couple has dates in Baltimore and Carmel by the Sea.
In Hawaii they’ll be staying in Makiki Heights at an estate overlooking Honolulu that was formerly owned by Imelda and former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.
