Vail Resorts Inc. today will announce a $40 increase on its most popular Front Range season pass for next winter.

The Colorado Pass, which offers unlimited days at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, plus 10 restricted days at Vail and Beaver Creek, will cost $419 this spring for adults, up from $379 last year and $349 two winters ago.

“We felt like this was the right place to be to continue to provide our customers with an incredible value,” said Chris Jarnot, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Broomfield-based Vail Resorts.

Last week, Intrawest Colorado angered some loyal customers by raising its pass prices at Copper Mountain and Winter Park Resort by more than $100 each this spring, to $349.

Mike Riegel of Highlands Ranch, who has purchased the Winter Park season pass for the past six winters, said he will not renew this year because of it.

“I’m disappointed,” he said. “I think this came out of corporate headquarters; they’re not thinking of the local skiers.”

Vail Resorts’ passes go on sale today for existing cardholders and April 13 for new customers. Prices are valid through May 6.

The company is also introducing a new product, the Colorado Pass Plus. It features six unrestricted days at Vail and Beaver Creek, plus four restricted days, for $519.

The Buddy Pass, which includes unlimited days at Breckenridge, Keystone and A-Basin, will cost $379, up from $349 last year.
