BOULDER, Colo.-
Icy roads forced the closures of two highways to Boulder on Friday night as drivers struggled through freezing drizzle, fog and light snow.
A stretch of westbound U.S. 36 was closed, along with Colorado 93 from Colorado 128 to Boulder, due to extremely icy conditions, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.
Alex Ford, a delivery driver for The Sink in Boulder, said roads weren’t too bad in town, though his car was sliding around a bit, and he had to keep ice off his windshield.
“It’s just the ice is accumulating on the cars, so it’s a lot of scraping,” he said. “The first time I did it, it took 20 minutes.”
He guessed deliveries were up about a fourth due to the weather.
Multiple accidents were reported on Interstate 25 in Pueblo, where northbound lanes were closed due to crashes Friday night.
Forecasters said an inch of snow was possible Saturday.
The forecast was far different for Grand Junction on the western edge of the state, where forecasts called for partly sunny skies and highs in the 60s Saturday.
