
Jenny McCarthy is joining the list of celebrity spokespeople for diet programs. The former Playboy playmate revealed to “Extra” how she ballooned to 211 pounds when she was pregnant and how she dropped 60 pounds thanks to Weight Watchers. “After I delivered my baby, I was very heavy,” she said. “I did six months in the program, and I got to my goal weight.” McCarthy is working for Weight Watchers Online for Men, helping former major-league pitcher Ron Darling lose weight.
Speaking of celebrity spokesmodels: Valerie Bertinelli is touting Jenny Craig and hopes to lose 30 pounds by September. The actress and ex-wife of rocker Eddie Van Halen told People magazine: “I need to do this in front of millions of people so I can’t mess up.” We’re sure her plan is to take it one day at a time.
Courtney Love, 42, credits a 44-pound weight loss to a more positive outlook. “I’m pretty happy and really all I care about is that my self-esteem is limitless and intact,” Love wrote on her website, MoonWashedRose.com. Love noted she wants to avoid anything that “creates negativity, chaos or loss.” She hopes to lose “6 more (pounds), maybe 11 more to go.”
Mark Wahlberg employed a training technique devised by the Marines in preparation for his role as a sniper in the film “Shooter.” Wahlberg, 35, spent time at a weapons training facility, including a lot of physical activity. “I didn’t enjoy it at all,” Wahlberg was quoted by bangshowbiz.com. “I pretended to enjoy it, I acted like I was going to like it, but I’m pretty lazy, and it was very intense. Once you’re on their turf they like to push you around a little bit. They like to test you and see if you’re man enough to handle it or they’ll call your agent – so I toughed it out.”
