The controversy over comments made by radio host Don Imus last week continued Monday as the Rev. Al Sharpton hosted Imus on his radio broadcast. Imus again apologized for his comments, which Sharpton called racist. Sharpton repeated his demand that Imus be fired.

Sharpton had earlier called for Imus ouster from MSNBC (which simulcasts Imus in the Morning with a New York radio station).

MSNBC called Imus comments deplorable but has taken no action. Imus earlier apologized on the air for what he called an insensitive and ill-conceived remark.

The protests against the veteran radio talker came in reaction to his comments about the Rutgers University womens basketball team. He called the members of the mostly black team “nappy-headed hos.”

Our agenda is to be funny and sometimes we go to far. And this time we went way too far, Imus told Sharpton.
