Monday, the Nuggets moved one step closer to a playoff berth.

Denver’s 115-111 win over the L.A. Lakers at the Pepsi Center continued a recent string of hot play, and earned another important tiebreaker over a team competing for similar playoff positioning. The Nuggets now have tiebreakers over the Lakers, Clippers and Golden State, three teams all vying for the last few playoff spots in the Western Conference.

The Nuggets, however, are just one win away from wrapping up their fourth consecutive playoff berth. Their first chance at that win comes Wednesday at the Utah Jazz.

Overall, Denver (41-36) won its sixth straight game, its longest winning streak of the season, eclipsing two five-game winning streaks.

Forward Carmelo Anthony and guard Allen Iverson combined for 57 of the Nuggets’ points. Anthony led the team with 33 points and added five assists and five rebounds.

The Lakers (40-38) were led by Kobe Bryant’s 23 points, but those came on 9-of-30 shooting.

Iverson’s free throw with 1:19 left gave the Nuggets a one-point lead, but plenty of drama remained.
