Stripsteak sizzles at Mandalay Bay; Michael Mina’s first steakhouse

It cost $7 million to put in – and a quick perusal of the menu makes one feel as though dinner might cost that much too – but it’s Vegas, baby, and this is one spot worth shelling out for. Skip over the 200-year-old $25,000 bottle of Scotch and instead concentrate on getting your hands on a heavenly piece of melt-in-your-mouth ribcap (8-ounce, $62) or some tuna sashimi or a lobster BLT. Chef Michael Mina’s menu has intriguing Japanese influences, and this room inside the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino is spectacular, with a glass-rimmed bar, comfy, circular, upholstered chairs and an expo kitchen that shows off dramatic flames leaping from the mesquite grills. Dinner daily. Stripsteak at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. S, 877-632-7800, mandalaybay.com
