Colorado State swept the top two spots in the women’s heptathlon Thursday at the California Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and winner Emily Pearson provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships with her score of 5,204 points. CSU’s Tonya Cure was next with 4,966 points.

Skylar Morgan of Air Force was eighth in the men’s decathlon. Eric Dunn of Western State was ninth.

Colorado College women’s soccer adds five

The Colorado College women’s soccer team, coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance, received commitments from five players, including midfielder/forward Meredith Smith of Mullen High School and defender Lacey Wirt of Fort Collins High. Goalkeeper Emma Bailey of Poudre High School has given an oral commitment to join the team in the fall. Also signing were forward Tiffany Brown of Sterling, Va., and defender/forward Sydney Fetter of Albuquerque.

Florence High School’s Rachel Means signed a letter of intent to attend Wichita State on a golf scholarship.

Falcons go 2-1 at boxing championships

Two Air Force boxers won their quarterfinal bouts at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Championships in Reno, Nev.

Freshman Matt McPhail had his 125-pound bout with Kentucky’s Levi Anderson called in the third round, and sophomore Nicholas Goc (139 pounds) also had his bout, against Jamyle Cannon of Kentucky, stopped in the third. Freshman Alexander Shin lost a decision to Mansfield’s Jarrett Hill at 132 pounds.

DU women’s tennis sweeps Cowgirls

The University of Denver women’s tennis team lost only one game in sweeping visiting Wyoming 7-0. Annette Aksdal, Ute Schnoy, Julia Bauregger and Rachel Sackmaster won both singles and doubles matches.
