Bruce McCloskey has retired as director of the Colorado Division of Wildlife, a position he held for three years.

McCloskey worked 33 years for the agency during a career in which he rose steadily through the ranks, from game warden to chief executive. The retirement is effective May 31.

Harris Sherman, executive director of the Department of Natural Resources, expressed gratitude for those years of service.

“We’re enormously appreciative of the job Bruce has done,” said Sherman, who indicated he’d move quickly to find a replacement. “We’re committed to finding the best possible successor.”

Sherman estimated it would take four to five months to fill the position.
