A 35-year-old Greeley-area man drowned Saturday after the canoe he was riding in capsized on Dowdy Lake near Red Feather Lakes.
The body of Edwin C. Heiden was found by the Larimer County Dive Team at 4:45 p.m., about three hours after the boat overturned.
Larimer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Don Nadow said Heiden was riding in the canoe with his 36-year- old brother and 10-year-old nephew.
Another boater was able to rescue the 36-year-old man and his son, Nadow said.
The boy was wearing a life jacket, but the two men were not, he said.
The man rescued by the boater was treated at the scene. The boy was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital.
