FORT CARSON, Colo.-
Members of Fort Carson’s 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team are likely to get three more months at home before returning to war.
The 36-hundred member unit was scheduled to return Iraq as early as late August. Colonel John Holt, the brigade’s commander, said the Pentagon is trying to delay their departure until December.
The goal is to have units home at least for a year between deployments.
The bad news is that the extension is part of the plan to keep units now in Iraq there for 15 months, instead of twelve. That includes Carson’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
