Aurora – City Councilwoman Molly Markert was charged with three misdemeanors after an incident at Smoky Hill High School on April 10, when she allegedly shoved her way into a parent meeting.

Markert received a summons today that charges her with third-degree assault, interference with school staff and harassment.

Markert told The Denver Post that she did not do anything wrong.

According to a police report released today, school dean Preston Davis had been instructed to not allow latecomers into the meeting.

He told police that Markert tried to gain access, saying, “Do you know who I am?” Davis said Markert “jammed her forearm” into his chest. When he tried to explain the policy, she said, “This is stupid,” according to the report.

Davis said Markert made contact with him again, shoving him against the door, and causing him to stumble and jam his left pinkie finger.

The meeting that night was to discuss behavior expectations for the upcoming graduation ceremony. Markert’s daughter is graduating from the school this spring.
