GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.-
A 32-year-old oil and gas rig worker has been fined ten-thousand dollars and barred from hunting in Colorado for life after poaching a prize deer.
Joseph Chapman also was given four years probation Thursday in Pitkin District Court.
Garfield Judge Denise Lynch said Chapman cut the animal’s head off and left it to rot.
Richard Antonio of the Colorado Division of Wildlife called the animal a once-in-a-life time deer.
Chapman pleaded guilty to willful destruction of wildlife in February as part of a plea agreement.
