The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team turned a two-goal lead with 22 minutes remaining into a 20-6 victory after scoring 12 unanswered goals in its win over visiting Oregon at Peter Barton Stadium.

Denver (14-2, 4-0) clinched a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation regular-season championship with one game remaining. Oregon (11-6, 4-1) finished its regular season in second place.

Ali Flury paced the Pioneers with five goals and an assist. Kristie Leggio added four goals and three assists. Leggio’s 54 goals this season are the third-highest single-season tally in Denver history, and her 36 assists are one shy of the team record she set last season.

Buffs net victory over Sooners

The No. 35-ranked Colorado women’s tennis team got a No. 1 singles victory from Monica Milewski and won the doubles point for a 6-1 victory over visiting Oklahoma at the South Boulder Tennis Courts. Milewski, ranked No. 35, led the Sooners’ Gabby Baker 3-0 in the first set before Baker retired with an injury. It was Milewski’s fifth straight victory.

No. 53-ranked South Alabama downed No. 46 Denver 4-0 in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference women’s tennis championships at Waranch Tennis Center in Denton, Texas. The Pioneers (13-9) will face Troy today in the consolation match.

Chapman, Mengelkamp tie for 11th

Megan Chapman’s final-round 76 for Colorado State tied her with Wyoming’s Laura Mengelkamp in 11th place at the Mountain West Conference championships on the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club course in St. George, Utah. New Mexico freshman Jodi Ewart shot a 1-over-par 72 in the final round to win the title. Texas Christian won the team title, with Colorado State fifth and Wyoming seventh.
