Balanced Eagles advance in CHL playoffs
The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League jumped to a 3-0 lead midway through the first period Wednesday night and got a goal apiece from five players for a 5-1 victory over the Oklahoma City Blazers in Game 7 of their best-of-seven conference semifinal series at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.
On their way to eliminating the Blazers for the second consecutive season, the Eagles got two goals during a 15-
second span of the first period. Riley Nelson scored a power-play goal at 8:42. Ryan Tobler, on an assist from Nelson, gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead at 8:57.
Chivas-Pachuca set for July 31 at Rapids’ park
The Rapids will host a SuperLiga match between Mexican first division powerhouses CD Guadalajara and CF Pachuca on July 31 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The clubs are considered the best teams in Mexican soccer.
Pachuca leads the Mexican first division with 36 points and Guadalajara Chivas, the defending league champion, is in second place with 31.
Transfers pick CSU women’s basketball team
Casper College forward Carine Reimink and Blinn (Brenham, Texas) College forward Amaka Uzomah signed national letters of intent to attend Colorado State.
The 6-foot-1 Reimink averaged 10.6 points and 6.5 rebounds as a sophomore at Casper, earning honorable mention All-America honors. Uzomah grabbed 599 rebounds at Blinn College, setting a school record.
