Centennial – A veteran Aurora police sergeant made his first appearance in Arapahoe County District Court Friday after being arrested a day earlier on suspicion of domestic violence.

Sgt. Steven Patrick, 48, faces three misdemeanor charges, including harassment, criminal mischief and third-degree assault.

At about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to Patrick’s home on a domestic violence call following a dispute between Patrick and his wife.

Police said Patrick and his wife got into a verbal argument that turned physical. Patrick’s 16-year-old son tried to intervene but Patrick then got physical with him, police spokesman Marcus Dudley said.

Patrick has served 26 years with the department and is currently assigned as a supervisor in the detective bureau. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
